Hotel California sat a little way off the highway, lit in warm gold, its sign humming faintly in the dusk. People found it when they were tired or drifting or unsure where else to go. The place offered comfort without asking questions. It held its guests gently, as though it already knew what they needed.
The game follows those guests. Each arrived with a small story behind them and a quiet hope for what might come next. Some wanted rest. Some wanted distraction. Some wanted answers. The hotel gave each of them a room and let them wander through lounges, bars, gardens and long corridors where the lighting shifted in subtle ways. Staff watched with polite interest. Other guests drifted in and out of scenes. Nothing forced anyone to stay, though leaving took more thought than people expected.
Tone: close to the mid‑70s: soft lighting, warm fabrics, quiet music, a sense of drifting through a place slightly out of time. If anyone carries magic, make it faint and personal — a knack, a small intuition, a moment of insight — never enough to overpower the hotel or bend it to their will.
The game is easy to enter, gentle to play, and rich enough to explore. Guests meet the Night Manager, the Concierge, the Housekeeper, the Musician and the Chef. They uncovered small mysteries, followed their own threads, and decided whether they wanted to escape, belong, or change the hotel from within.
It’s based on a song. But you already knew that…
