A Tale of Marital Mayhem, Murder, and Mistrust
It was a good wedding, depending on who you talked to. But it was indisputably the happiest day of their lives, as subsequent days made clear.
By the end of the week, everyone would be dead.
What sordid tales lay in their past? What shameful deeds were committed under the weight of alcohol and loneliness? What terrible secrets tore their love (so-called) asunder? Did they ever really love one another? Was it a marriage of convenience? Or something more sinister?
Important Notes
Like Hamlet on fast-forward, everyone–or at least, all the main characters–will be dead by the final Act.
‘Til Death Do Us Part will be told in three parts:
- Setup: Personal conflict emerges.
- Confrontation: Things come to a head.
- Resolution: People come to an end.
Lets be clear: the aim of the game is not to survive, but to crash and burn in the most spectacular fashion, taking as many people with you as possible.
To that end, cards operate somewhat differently from normal.
- Strength cards will help you generate conflict.
- Weakness cards will likely stop conflict, but create pathos.
- Subplot cards describe relationships.
You can think of it like this: the character cards are oriented towards the game, rather than the characters.
Other things of note:
- Death does not mean elimination: as appropriate, your character may continue to have flashbacks, or provide ghostly touches.
- Speaking of time, flashbacks will almost certainly be necessary and encouraged. Flash-fowards must be handled with care to avoid breaking the space-time continuum, so consult with the narrator first please!
