A kite needs to be tied down in order to fly. I learned how important restrictions can sometimes be in order to experience freedom. - Damien Rice
Coming of age… no matter what culture throughout history, it is a time of unique challenges and opportunities.
Now, of course, the Supervisors make sure that things run as smoothly as they can.
You have reached that age and you have faced the elaborate and occasionally painful process of Risk Assessment. You were weighed and measured to see where the holes were, where you might fall down, where you were not… fitting in…
And then you were assigned a Pair.
You never had a say it in, but then there it was. For the indefinite future, until you can prove yourself to be capable of living Solo.
You live together, you are joined by a bond that cannot be broken, The Tie, as it is called. If you decide to make a “bad choice” your partner will receive the same punishment as you do. You will also have a burst of what is called “Consequence” where for a short time afterwards, you are forced to experience the emotions of your Paired person.
You must work together.
You must improve your rating as a Pair, until you are acceptable and able to live Solo once more.
This game is set in a world where overseers monitor everything.
You are encouraged to report other people who are making “inappropriate choices” to the authorities. Doing so will earn you esteem.
You are emotionally linked with your partner (who will be a randomly drawn character from the players) but it is only triggered when you are punished for an infringement.
Crimes against the Supervisors include laziness, bad speech, lewdness and all of the usual crimes of society.
Characters can be from any walk of life, should all be young. As with all my games, this one is LGBT* friendly and inclusive.
