“Fame is the thirst of youth.” - Lord Byron
You have been in the band for years. You’ve all given your heart and soul to the thing, it’s everything to you.
As a band, you’re close. You know each other better than most people and you’ve all been working hard, gigs every weekend, getting a good following.
Then something changed.
People started noticing you.
You got a recording contract.
Your single is in the charts. It’s climbing. Suddenly people want to know you.
You have a new manager.
You have bigger gigs, better venues.
Rolling Stone is on the phone.
The year is 1972- it’s all up from here!
This is a game about friends, maybe even family, who are together in a mission to become the biggest rock band in the world.
It’s a story about how fame effects people.
It’s a story about youth, and coming of age in the limelight.
To be fair, I should point out this game was inspired by listening to the awesome rock-umentary style audiobook of Daisy Jones and the Six. It is incredible, and well worth a listen if anyone’s interested.
I’m not really aiming for being super accurate on this, I’ve never worked in the music industry and I wouldn’t know the first thing about it. But you know, we all know some tropes and some bits and pieces we can make into something feasible. As for the game itself, I’m very much mostly interested in the relationships.
I want rivals and lovers, secret crushes, family ties, promises and ambition, egos and control problems.
