The Eternal Library is modern and well-lit. It caters to a wide swath of the population - a children’s corner with weekend storytelling sessions, computers and internet access, a fairly current lending library, and an eclectic reference library. There are indoor and outdoor event spaces and a pleasant garden where one could stroll or jog.
The Library is relatively new, founded by manufacturing heiress Sybil Eternal, who wanted to leave a legacy to the town she grew up in. The Library is also home to Ms Sybil’s personal collection of paranormal texts and curiosities, which she bequeathed upon her death in 1994. Rumour has it that she occasionally can be seen in the Sybil Eternal Collection Room.
And while there are whispers of hauntings and happenings, they are relatively benign when something does happen - carts moved across the room, books scooting to the edge of the shelf, keys misplaced only to be located at a very obvious place - things that are easy to blame on a living soul with a poor memory. None of the staff seem perturbed, but none of them openly discuss it either.
But when the lights goes out and the night guard takes up his post, the library comes, er … alive with a different set of patrons altogether. And this, dead reader, is where you come in.
The Eternal Library is a slice of life afterlife game where a community of ghosts learn to exist in their current form and with each other. Because sometimes, there is life after death.
