The year is 2021. Two years after all water has become contaminated by a disease only informally known as Sludge due to its effects. It slows water’s flow, sticks to anything it touches and can be acidic depending on how high the concentration is. To make matters worse, it is nearly impossible to purify. Theoretically, there was once a couple that devised a way to successfully revert the diseased liquid back into something drinkable, but soon after were attacked by extremists leading to the man of the two getting shot. Luckily, he survived, and the two of them hid away inside a bunker that has now been lost. No one knows where it is for sure, but rumors still circulate, despite the dangers of the areas it supposedly exists within.
Besides water, other threats are imminent. Raiders and other civilizations tend to be more focused on shooting first and asking questions later or they are in the business of buying or selling merchandise- of any kind.
Those who do not fall in line or choose to act like savages are few- but not unheard of. Like this community. It might just be a reinforced campsite, but those who gathered here are a welcoming sort. Especially the leader of the establishment, Drake Mortan. He, despite looking like a rough and tough man, is deeply in tune with those around him and wishes the best for any human that crosses his past. This is evident with the ragtag group of what he called ‘refugees’ that were just welcomed into the community. After an explosion from the nearby shell of the city of Los Angeles, plenty of individuals who were still residing there were left without a place to stay. And Drake opened his arms. Generously.
Will the camp remain stable? Is it possible to survive in a world torn apart from the inside out? Or will you fall to the Sludge?
