This is a medieval horror story 18+
Thank you for checking me out. Yes, I’m new but I’ve always wanted to run a game. I played a version of Grim & Gritty style D&D and it changed my life. I want to share that experience with you, the player. This is to kind of introduce myself, my style, and my story. Please know that this is unwinnable. Whatever news you can spread will become rumors in the next game.
The tiny fishing village of Kynic had been a mostly isolated community for many years. It was renowned for its excellent catches of fish, both large and small, and the villagers lived a simple and peaceful life.
But all this changed when an unknown logging company moved in to the surrounding area and started cutting down the forests. Overnight, the sleepy fishing village was transformed into a thriving community, with money suddenly flowing in from the logging operations.
To keep the peace, a small garrison of mercenaries was set up in the village. They were tasked with keeping people away from the lumber camps and ensuring that any disputes amongst the villagers were kept in check.
It had been one year and six months since the arrival of the logging company, and at first all seemed to be in order. But in the last few weeks, something strange has been happening.
Fish have stopped biting. Dead fish have been seen in the river. Even more ominously, inhuman screams have been heard coming from deep within the dark forest. The villagers have begun to worry that something terrible is happening in the depths of the woods.
The mercenaries have done their best to investigate the strange goings-on, but have so far been unsuccessful in finding out what is causing the disturbances. People are beginning to whisper of monsters and dark sorcery, and the atmosphere in the village is becoming increasingly tense.
As the rumors and speculation grow, a deep sense of foreboding hangs over the village. The villagers know that something sinister is happening in the woods, and that it will eventually come to their doorsteps. In the meantime, they do their best to carry on with their lives, but keep one eye always on the looming darkness beyond the village.
