You know at least these basic truths: It is the 1950s. You were on the way to someplace safe, they said, aboard the safest plane you could imagine. Your fellow students were there with you, all members of the same English boarding school. The bombs, they said, wouldn’t dare get you where you were going.
The glass cracked first. The air suddenly vanished. The fuselage ripped free. You heard screams.
And you woke up here, the sun beating down on your face.
A vast island expands around you, both promising and intimidating. You’re wearing only your school uniform – apparently even that formality was necessary before the voyage – and you’re left alone, without adults or guidance near you, to subsist, escape, or at the very least, survive against all odds.
Forests, marshes, and mountains surround you. And you know, instinctively, that by the time you step foot off this island, you may not be the same person who was stranded on it.
This game is based loosely on concepts and ideas presented in William Golding’s 1954 novel Lord of the Flies. Characters should be student-aged (middle to high school), but unlike the novel, will have hailed from a co-ed boarding school where they all were in attendance.
