The year is 1983 and West Berlin is the most punk city in the world. Whether or not they’re willing to admit it, everyone sandwiched between the Wall and the DDR would be radioactive toast in a scuffle between the US and the USSR. Knowing that your entire existence could be erased if Andropov forgets to take his liver medication or Reagan watches too many John Wayne movies has a profound effect on the psyche. Some people embrace the extremes of rationalization, going about their day pretending that it’s totally normal for 3 million people to be held hostage by foreign occupiers. Others decide that if you’re going to die at any moment you might as well live however you want right now, and if that means putting on some fishnets, shaving your head, wearing leather and kissing whoever you damn well please, then so be it.
You fall in the latter camp. The Kreuzberg may be a shithole, but the cigarettes are cheap, the sex is good, and the music is like nothing else on the continent.
Or at least it was, until Bunni Kaufmann, one of the most adored members of the burgeoning LGBTQ community, was found in her apartment with her head bashed in. Now she’s laying in the hospital while the polizei shrug their shoulders. Word on the strasse is that Bunni’s boyfriend is with the Stasi, and looking too deeply into it might cause an incident.
Fuck that noise. Causing incidents is what you do, and you’re gonna make sure that bastard learns a lesson he’ll never forget.
