The Department of Occult Affairs
Some things are better left unexplained.
There are things the government doesn’t acknowledge.
Unexplained disappearances. Impossible deaths. Strange creatures. Reports of hauntings, UFOs, psychic phenomena, and events that defy any reasonable explanation.
Most are dismissed.
Some are classified.
Others are quietly handed to the Department of Occult Affairs.
The Department investigates the cases nobody else can explain. Its agents come from all walks of life, and not all of them agree on what they’re looking for. Some believe in the supernatural. Others believe there is a rational explanation for everything.
They aren’t necessarily believers or skeptics.
They’re simply the people who go looking when everyone else decides to look away.
Every case begins with a question.
The trouble is that the answers tend to lead to more questions.
You don’t join the Department because you want an ordinary job.
You join because you’ve seen something.
Maybe you’ve spent years studying phenomena nobody believes exists. Maybe you’re a detective who encountered one case you couldn’t explain. Maybe you’re a scientist who discovered something that should have been impossible. Maybe you simply know that the world is stranger than most people realize.
