The fall semester has just begun at Ridgeview University, and with it comes the annual migration of students to Javawocky, the local coffee shop known for great coffee and homemade pastries, late hours and free wifi, and a work-study program with excellent perks.
This is intended to be a short, character-driven, LGBT-friendly game following the relationships formed in the first week of the fall semester amongst the new and returning coffee shop staff and customers.
Looking for a total of six characters - five other players and myself. The tone I’m going for is sweet, or at least light - Meet Cutes, adorably awkward first dates, that sort of thing. Not that there can’t or won’t be some angst and longing from afar! But this is maybe not the game for characters working through their Dark and Troubled Past.
I encourage players to create pre-existing relationships between characters, even if those relationships do not end up being the focus of the story. See this forum thread (https://storium.com/forums#/category/lfp/thread/d5z8ea) if you would like to discuss characters and relationships prior to character creation.
Along those same lines, I am a big fan of out-of-character communication, and will be creating a Google Hangout for plotting, questions and general chit-chat. Please include your Hangouts contact email in your character’s commentary if you would like to be included in this chat!
Character Things To Maybe Think About In Your Bio
-Major/Area of Study
-Year (Incoming Freshman? Returning student? Transfer?)
-Previous Relationships
-Current Relationships?
-Occupation
-Hometown
-Family
-Reason For Hanging Out At Javawocky (Are they a barista? A regular?)
A note on the nature cards: There are two axes represented in the nature cards: (1) Javawocky staff vs. customer, and (2) type of Ridgeview University student. There will be overlap in these two categories (e.g. a character who is both a freshman and a barista extraordinaire, or a grad student who is also a Javawocky regular). Choose whichever nature card appeals more to you, from a player or a character perspective, and just mention the other half of your character’s nature in your bio.
For strengths/weaknesses/subplots, I think there’s a pretty good mix of cards to get you started, but you are more than welcome to create your own if nothing really feels like it fits!
