The town of Lubbock has seen little activity in the last ten years. The world broke about ten years before that, and other than the occasional Tribal folk and visiting caravans the town only heard about most of the results of the fall.
Without a government outside themselves the town has managed pretty well for itself. The people of Lubbock, and the outlier areas, as well as the occasional traveler who stuck around have turned life into a peaceful if somewhat boring existence.
Then a cloud of dust swept through one evening, and folks started getting sick. Whatever was in that passing storm was toxic, but by luck the sheriff managed to cover the wells before they were contaminated. Now, the farmers are reporting attacks on their livestock. Cows and sheep turned inside out by something vicious on the plains.
The story of Western Wind is part Western, part mystery, with just a dab of horror. Characters are townsfolk, visitors, outsiders, Tribal people, or anyone else who might have taken an interest in the recent happenings in town. It takes place in a world where civilization broke down before it ever fully civilized. Technology as we know it today has never been.
