Joining: Preference will be given to players I know, but if there are any slots unclaimed by go time, they’re fair game.
The Game: Romance is one of the themes we’re touching on in this game. Rather than write it into the cards, the idea is to think about how the cards influence how your character relates to love and passion. Play around with how those different angles help or hinder your character’s ability (or desire) to pursue romance.
Player Narrative: Please feel free to define things within the story and setting as long as they neither conflict with anything that has come before nor steps on anyone’s toes. I want you folks to create the world as you go, though I do reserve the right to reel it back and say nooo, we’re not doing that. Finally, do not assume narrative control over someone else’s character. Never ever.
Setting: The Kingdom of Caeleth is vast, made up of a dozen provinces and hundreds of fiefdoms flung few and far between. On the Northeast tip of the continent lies the Orinach Peninsula, a fiefdom ruled by Lord Tomas of House Kester and his wife Lady Briallen.
Between the ages of sixteen and twenty-one, this is your home. Here, you are receiving an education that will allegedly teach you how to be proper lords and ladies. Some of you are here willingly. Others not so much, but you’re in no position to do anything about it. For now.
Why sent to such a remote place? It is a volatile time in Caeleth. Queen Lucia Caesarra has died recently, and there is tension over who is her rightful heir. Lines are being drawn, loyalties are shifting, and there has been talk of war.
Orinach is a long way from the capitol. It’s a long way from anything, but the castle is defensible, the people proud and strong, and the Kesters have a reputation for honor and fair treatment, even of their enemies.
Character Creation: Here is where you get to make up some of the history and geography of the setting. Give your character a name, name his/her House and the Province s/he hails from. Who are your PC’s parents? Where do they stand in the grand scheme of things? Is there anything your family history we should know?
Some of the cards are vague on purpose. Elaborate a little bit on what they mean to you. Are you beholden to a higher power? Who? Why? Are you faithful to a god? Which one? What is their role in the cosmos? You don’t have to write a novel, but flesh your PC out a bit more than the cards alone will do.
NSFW: The game is tagged NSFW because adult situations is pretty much one of the main reasons we’re playing this. However, players may opt out of anything they’re not comfortable with, and they can decide how far they want the narrative to go. If someone says they don’t want to go there, dial it back.
