verisimilitude: the appearance of being true or real.
This is the story of how a group of runners ruthlessly hunted down and assassinated Daniel Koenig, one of the world’s most affluent military technology producers. His empire spanned the entirety of America, consisting of over five hundred factories, just as many labs, and several expansive mansions. The runners’ plot brought this all to an end. No one can tell for sure just how long they spent, preparing, lurking, waiting for precisely the right moment.
Or maybe it’s the story of the runners’ realization they were framed. That their memories of the murder were implanted, added in after the fact. Someone big was behind this. Someone with power, influence, and skill. Someone who could convince the entire world that Koenig’s untimely decease was the work of a ridiculously small group. That group, however, needed answers. They scoured the country, desperate for any information they could get their hands on.

This is a cyberpunk experiment with Storium mechanics. The goal is to have two plots running at the same time, alternating each every scene. The first will be a recount of your implanted memories, the second of your journey to find Koenig’s killer.
Character Creation: You are one member of the group of runners. You don’t necessarily have any association with the others, besides the false memories. Note: You may not use “Broken Memories” as your Weakness. All the characters have those. Also, someone may wish to create a character associated with Koenig in a limited way, like his secretary or something. Character portraits are required, card art is recommended if it makes sense. I encourage you to create your own cards.
Setting: Set in cyberpunk America, ~2100. We’ll stick mostly to one city, in which the rich and poor coexist in relative harmony, i.e. not constantly killing each other. Your group will have to stay out of the eyes of the upper classes; you’re wanted for murder. I’ll let you decide what specific location once I have all the characters.
Tense: The first plot (murder scheme) should be third person limited, past tense. The second plot (investigation) should be third person limited, present tense. I will indicate which plot is being developed at the beginning of each scene.
Pace: As fast as you can. Once a day or quicker would be great, but isn’t required. Let me know if you’ll be unable to move for an extended period of time, I’ll do my best to work it into the plot somehow.
Character Control: You are allowed to move other player’s characters within reason. If there’s an issue, I’ll request revisions. As for NPCs, feel free to move them unless I say otherwise.
EDIT: I’m looking for anyone interested in joining a second group of runners, which will join up with the primary group shortly. If interested, please look over the game this far. Thanks!
