In 2033, while trying to develop teleportation, MIT serendipitously creates a portal to another reality. It is quickly discovered that nothing electrical or electronic survives passing through the portal and living things passing through basically suffer the equivalent of being tasered.
On the plus side the atmosphere is conducive to terran life and no dangerous viruses have been discovered (yet).
Dr. Albert Broadbent wants to get an exploration team through the Portal before his annual grant evaluation by the military in four weeks. He is calling in favors to put together a team together and through the Portal as quickly as possible.
