Welcome to the show!
You are a member of the illustrious American theatre company, the Beilinson Theater Troupe! Your troupe is currently based in a Paris theater, La Belle Théâtre de Jean Giraudoux. It’s a small theatre, but it’s become like a second home to many of the people who work there every day.
However, both the theatre and your company are struggling to make ends meet. They don’t know if they can keep on producing shows. You could be out of a job! Will you and your co-workers work together and help the show go on? Or will you tear your friends’ hearts out, trying to get the lead role?
So, in this game, each character is a member of the Beilinson Theatre Troupe. I’m looking for around 6-7 people. It’s a theatre company, which means that it includes the technical crews, the designers, the directors, the producers, and the actors. I’ve tried to reflect the enormous differentiation between roles in a theatre company, but don’t be afraid to write your own cards. That’s totally fine with me. Don’t make your own cards just to make your own cards, but I want them to fit with your character. However, try to create diverse characters and expand the roster in terms of the cards. It makes the game more dynamic.
Now, in terms of the plot, I’d like to try something a little different. My plan is to rotate between genres. I know it sounds crazy, but bear with me for a second. I think that all characters are capable of responding to different situations. So my conceit was to do one genre per chapter. Maybe the first chapter is a drama, and then the second is a romance, and the third is a murder-mystery, and the fourth is a comedy. But the idea is to regularly change up the pace of the story inside this theatre. In this concept, I would crown a “winner” at the end of each chapter. Basically, that person has done the most effective work in responding to the chapter’s genre and situation. I know it’s an experimental idea, but I think it could be really effective with the right kinds of people.
So, if you’re into this setting and my crazy new idea, apply and find out how it goes!
