Lahra Conner’s life is a dream. She is seventeen, and life seems to be made for her joy, for her pleasure. With a face beautiful as life itself and a mind sharp as the vilest of blades, Lahra never had trouble making her way throughout reality.
Lahra Conner’s dreams are her life. Caught in a twisted journey across dark lands, in between altars long forgotten and into the hands of demons wanted and feared. For Lahra there are not a second she does not fear falling asleep, not a moment where she does not tremble from the thought of closing her eyes, if but for a split second.
At first they played their little games on her. Nightmares, twisted realities and dark secrets became her everyday remedy. More often than not had the young girl awoken from her slumber, cold sweat dripping from the trembling body. More than once had she rushed to the bed of her parents, crawling up only to discover they were not in fact dismembered, eaten or dead. Yet, Lahra never could feel relief, thus she knew all dreams carry an ounce of truth with them.
Then came the pleasures. Men and women alike grew fond of her dreams, appearing within them more than once. From their mouths came sweet lies, guilty secrets. Sweet lips reached for hers, and the taste of cherry and roses were all too common. In her dreams curious hands caressed her, travelling upon paths on her body never before explored, and she often woke up aroused. Several time she could have sworn that it was all real, and often she wished it had been.
At last the prophecies began, as twisted as it may sound. By now Lahra was sixteen, her womanhood since long begun. Now, the dreams were not nightmares, nor pleasures. Now, they were something grander and that small truth lay weight upon her. Before her eyes friends and family stood, chanting melodies strangely familiar, telling tales about a world reborn. Lahra was not afraid, not aroused, yet it was something within her reacting. Her inner demons had gotten control, their voices now hers. The perfect girl had gotten her own personal hell to live within, and it seemed that nothing could change it.
And you, who are you? You are Lahra’s unwanted demons. Her inner voices, nightmares, dreams and lovers. You are what is controlling her otherwise perfect life, always ready to cause mischief and pleasure. In your hands lay the life of an innocent girl, a virgin to reality and a teenager wishing for naught but peace. Will you grant it to her, or are her wishes all to minuscule?
Notes: While this story might seem odd at first, it is a test in a new form of writing. While you have no “character” per say, you will have the ability to form the imaginary life of Lahra Conner instead. Think of it as problem solving, where you are guiding her through a scenario.
