Starting in the early 1950s, there were stories of toasters. Not your every day toasters, all tiny and demure and sitting on the kitchen counter. No, these were huge, the size of a city street, and they appeared from outer space. They boasted wings, and the toast that came out of them was the size of an 18-wheeler.
No one believed the original stories. Maybe you heard it from your nutty old Aunt Ida, or the weird guy down the block with the shotgun and the collection of plaster garden gnomes, or that news anchor with the devil may care grin who hung himself years later when no one would believe him.
