This is loosely based on Th3rdWorldsStudios “The Stuff of Legend” comic books and graphic novels (and soon to be a Disney film!). http://th3rdworld.com/book/the-stuff-of-legend (be sure to check out the gallery which has some of the amazing art from this series that will give you a good sense of the tone I’m shooting for. The collected volumes are available on Comixology. Vol 1 will cover more than enough to give you a feel). This is an excellent book and I can’t recommend it enough. I am not using any of the characters, plots (except in the broadest sense) or places from these stories (except the Bogeyman, but it can be argued he’s in the public domain). This is intended to be an homage, not a copy.

In the 1950’s you are a toy who belongs to an 11 year-old girl. In the child’s room you appear as toys. The toys become animated and self-aware when the girl is asleep or not nearby, but they are still toys.
But inside the closet is another realm. In that realm are all of the ‘lost’ toys. Either they’ve been forgotten or broken or else they belong to the child’s siblings or parents and they’ve been placed there in storage.
Ultimately, in that realm, you are no longer toys. You are your ‘true’ self. A “teddy bear” toy is a real bear in the Closet. A fashion doll is a supermodel in the Closet. A toy car might become a Race driver with a full-sized racecar. Animals such as pets (puppies and kittens) remain as the same kind of animal, but sometimes they grow larger or more intelligent.
The Closet realm is also the home to the Bogeyman. The Bogeyman is taking over the closet realm and needs a child in order to escape into the real world. When the child is kidnapped by the Bogeyman into the Closet realm, her toys go after her.

In your character description please put the type of toy you are as well as how you appear in the Closet realm. If you have companions or equipment that is attached to you in toy form (such as a cowboy who rides a horse or a ‘Bo Peep’ with a crook and sheep) please indicate that in your “true self” description as well.
These toys aren’t “Toy Story” toys. A T-Rex in the Closet would appear as a full sized intelligent speaking Tyrannosaur. Also, please try to find late 1940-early 1950’s era toys.

I run a fast-paced game and if you don’t feel you can commit to continue playing, please write an exit for your character before retiring. If you have not posted anything for two weeks (including commentary), then I’ll retire you to make room for new players. Death is possible for the toys in the Closet.
I am not very strict about writing responses for the other player characters. If a player writes something that you feel is completely out of character or is not possible for your character say something in the commentary so I can revision.
I’ll write for your character in continuations and scene ends and starts as well in order to progress the story. So the same applies to me too, but remember that if anyone posts after a continuation I can’t go back and edit it.
