Thousands of years have passed, and humanity has conquered the stars.
But for all the progress that has been made, humans are still human. Poverty, suffering, inequality - these are still with us. Perhaps they always will be. Society and attitudes, particularly on the frontier worlds, would not surprise a 21st century person, for all that the technology might blindside such an improbable visitor.
On the far fringes of the Western Spiral lies Ikarus, an Earth-like planet with rich mineral deposits. The citizens of this world make a living as best they can through mining and manufacture, or in the service trades that support these industries. Or, at least, that is the lot of the working poor - to labour while their employers rake in the profit and their leaders live in extravagant mansions on the planet’s moons.
Money is power. Money and power are all that matter here. If you have neither, you are nothing. And yet… as they used to say, knowledge is also power.
So when a group of impoverished workers from the city of Ashirek stumble across evidence that points towards high-level espionage, a local government conspiracy and a possible invasion, they suddenly become more than worthless ciphers. Too bad that what they’ve become instead are targets.
But the news is not all bad. The rich and powerful would surely trade money and protection for this damning knowledge. Perhaps it is time to go on a journey…
=====
This is intended to be a “soft” SF story, more of an adventure with a futuristic aesthetic than any sort of serious science fiction. I am looking for 3-5 people to play as a group of young and broke friends who accidentally uncover a dangerous secret. This discovery will occur early in the plot of the game.
As the speed suggests, I would like to see at least one scene play out per week. That means that you should be prepared to post once every 2-3 days.
The Sky Is Falling now has a website!

Mysterious Stranger (Furare)
