Mother Abigail; the matron of the Bleakview Orphanage where you grew up, has died.
A letter has been hand-delivered to each of your residences, requesting your presence at the now derelict shell of the site you once called home.
The details are mostly vague, but you recognise the writing as belonging to Abigail’s own hand. It stirs within you a sense of duty, a duty to honour the last request of the woman who took you into her arms when others would not.
She gave you a start in life that was very different to what you might have expected had she not taken you in. Making a trip back to the orphanage might give you the chance to put to rest the regrets you have for all the things you never found the time to say to her when she was still alive; how grateful you were, how much she inspired you, how often and how fondly you thought of her.
Most importantly, it’s a chance to lay your own secrets to rest. In bidding farewell to Mother Abigail, you hope to unburden yourself of the demons you have carried with you into adulthood.
The secrets that you shared with her went with Mother Abigail to the grave. This is your chance to make sure the nails in that coffin are hammered down as tightly as possible, once and for all.
