For centuries the Realm had been at peace, protected by the Elephant King, his Knights, and the Wizards of the Realm, then they came. Thirty years ago the Interlopers came out of the north, over the Northern Mountains, long thought uncrossable the interlopers proved otherwise in their sky ships. The Interlopers were originally greeted as friends, but to the Interlopers they saw it as opportunity and over the course of five years annexed most of the lands of the Realm. When the Elephant King found out he demanded for them to leave, but by then the Interlopers were already entrenched in forts. The war for the Kingdom had begun.
The Elephant King and his Knights fought across the realm, and though they won almost every battle they participated in, they could not win the war, the Interlopers burned villages to the ground and massacred the mages they came across. After three years the Elephant King surrendered to protect his people. He was allowed to keep the throne, but had no real power, that belonged to the Interlopers. After ten years he abdicated to his daughter Ashurna.
To ensure their position the Interlopers built castles, influenced the young and destroyed much of the Realm’s magical knowledge. Now the Interlopers have mostly withdrawn, rumor has it they’re fighting each other in their homeland, though a few knights and a legion of troops remain.
Now is the time to take back the Realm, to restore power to the throne, to restore the knights, and the wizards.
