There are only four rules for traveling the Woodland Highway:
>
* Stay on the path.
* Don’t eat anything you didn’t bring with you.
* Don’t accept gifts from anyone.
* Keep your eye on the wagon.

The Low Road is a fantasy adventure for four players. You have a very important delivery to make and you have to carry it over 500 miles in less than a week. The only way to do that is to take the Woodland Highway, a fae dimensional passage that will cut the journey’s time to three days.
The Woodland Highway has its own dangers, however. The fae allow mortals to use the Highway but they do not promise to leave them alone. They will attempt to trick you, trap you or steal your things. Knowledge of fae traditions and customs is important.
Therefore, the rules of the Highway are very important. In the realms of the Fae your word is binding. A gift implies a debt. Food binds you to the fae who provided it. If you are not watching your things then you must not want them, and if you stray from the path then you may become lost in the realm of the fae.
Things are never what they seem.

Players may be any sort of standard fantasy race or profession. Magic comes in “divine” and “arcane” varieties. Everyone starts with one magical item. Please let me know what it is in your character request NOT in your profile.
You are all considered to have traveled this way (with varying degrees of success) before. In your profile hint at whether it was a disaster or a success. I’ll let you fill in any back-story later.
You may or may not know each other, but you are all dedicated to the mission. Lives are depending on you to deliver this cargo.
None of you know what it is. You are being compensated individually upon the delivery of the cargo. So keep a fitting reward that would motivate you to dedicate yourself to this in mind. Whether you share what you are being paid with the others is up to you.

This is a finite story. It will be three “game days” long. If your characters have not completed the task by the end of three days then the story ends and you “lose” I’ll write some dire consequences for your characters not getting through. If, on the other hand, you do make it then you’ll get an Epilogue.
I’m hoping to keep this as a light adventure, but not silly. And if you don’t post then it’ll just sit out here in limbo. Each chapter will be the day and I’ll try to start each scene with some indicator of the time of day (Sunrise, Noon, Dusk, Midnight, etc.). A “day” is considered sunrise to sunrise.
Time flows strangely in the fae lands so don’t be surprised if one of the days seems very short (or very very long).
