Avalon, the mystical isle separated from the world by magic, floats deeper and deeper into the mists every year, losing connection and influence on the outside world.
Vivienne, Priestess of Avalon and Lady of the Lake, is becoming old and tired. Her protégé, Morgaine, due to take over as Lady of the Lake, is missing. Fled many years ago after a conflict, the details unknown.
Each year, fewer and fewer young women are sent to the House of Maidens on Avalon to become schooled in the old Celtic ways and to serve the Goddess.
Is King Arthur honoring his promise, sworn on the holy sword Excalibur given to him during his initiation, to protect and honor Avalon? Or is he banning the old ways from being practiced in all of Britain?
On Avalon, a small group of novice Priestesses remain, living in the House of Maidens and being taught by Vivienne and the Merlin of Britian. Can they discover why Avalon is floating further into the mists and losing influence, or will the magic of the Goddess be lost forever?
Inspired by The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley, a feminine retelling of the Arthurian Legends. Knowledge of the book or the Arthurian legends not required. This story will not adhere to any one version of the Arthurian Legends, but will use them as a jumping off point.
