“All wound, the last kills.”
Historic words carved painstakingly into the aged cream face of a deep mahogany clock, endlessly biding its time in that narrow space between your eyebrows, lending increasing weight to your brow.

The ticking’s gotten louder.
TICK TOCK TICK TOCK
Your life’s become altogether consumed by the shadowy second hand in your mind: find the clock, find the dusty white veranda enforced by glaring Roman columns on either side like timeless soldiers. The house, the clock, the standing hairs along your arm; they’re all connected.
And, finally. Now. Tonight. You’re going to find out why.
