It’s Santa Monica, 1987. The Giants are Super Bowl champions, everybody wants to be Robocop and Super Mario Bros is everywhere you look.
But who cares about that, didn’t you hear about the Laser Tag National Tournament?!
The Star Cruiser Arcade in Santa Monica is holding the 1st annual Laser Tag National Tournament in its legendary arena, known locally as “The Pit”. (Semi-national anyways, it’s mostly a publicity stunt.) Teams of 4 will compete for the grand prize of $50,000! (And of course, a trip to Space Camp) Ever since hearing the news, David Wilson has been marshalling his friends in an effort to be the best of the best and take home the glory of being the first official “Laser Warriors”.
For Dave though, it’s much more personal. Ever since his dad lost his job the bills have been piling up. The banks are getting tired of waiting and they’re ready to foreclose and kick Dave and his family out of the only home he’s ever known. In a last ditch effort, Dave and his friends have entered the tournament to try to win the prize money and save his family from ruin. To their credit they’ve done a pretty good job too. They’ve sailed through all their preliminary matches and even managed to make it into the Semi-Finals. However, there’s a problem..
Johnny Chin, local rich kid and all around spoiled brat, has his sights set on the prize money as well. He’s not the greatest player around, but the Morelli kids he’s hired to be his team-mates are. Generally a family of bullies, brats and all around jerk wads, the Morellis will do anything.. ANYTHING to win.
With the tournament in its Semi-Final stages, tensions are high. As one of Dave’s friends, do you have what it takes to win? Can you help defeat the Morellis and save the Wilson family from certain eviction? Or will David become just another friend you “used” to know…

A note from the narrator..
Laser Warriors was designed to be a fun, 80s trope adventure, borrowing elements from movies such as The Goonies and The Wizard. With all the space pirate adventures, gothic horror and superhero stories out there, I felt like a good ol’ fashioned fun 80s style kid adventure was missing from the mix.
This is a clone of an adventure I’m currently running, and the plot is mostly hashed out. I plan to be fairly active, and to play out quick NPC dialogue often. The main character is Dave, who is an NPC supported by the players. I’m looking for players who are ok with this and who would be dedicated to 2 - 3 scenes a week. If you don’t think you can keep up with this schedule, please don’t apply. Keep in mind when submitting a character for Laser Warriors that this is set in 1987. Plan accordingly. That means dust off the old lingo like “grody”, “tubular” and “radical”, but don’t go overkill on it. Remember, this is the era of the brick phone, original Nintendo and Michael Jackson. Feel free to run with the period’s pop culture, and embrace it. Most importantly, have fun. That’s what we’re all here for.
