Everyone had a reason to fear the girl with the gun. Some knew her. Some wronged her. Some were just in her way. Did she care?
It was September 27th, 2000, and the students of Mountain View High in Anchorage, Alaska were tense. The world was still shaken by Columbine. The state in Ukraine was worrisome.
But no one noticed when she fell.
It started with the drinking. She’d be out after school and return distant and milky-eyed. The cigarettes and drugs only drove her farther off the edge.
She opened fire the day after prom. Thirty were killed. Seventy injured. She shot herself in the bathroom afterwards.
It was supposed to be a day to remember.
Goddamnit, it was.
