This game is set in a fantasy world based (loosely) on D&D 5e - however no canon knowledge is needed! Just think fantasy + pirates!
The characters are travelling on a merchant boat to a newly discovered set of isles. These characters could be wizards, merchants, adventurers, mercenaries, etc. but they should have some motivation for travelling to the exotic tropical isles, known as the Isles of Thay.

The lands of Erothasia are a curious place. Full of elves, dwarves, tabaxi, lizardfolk, and other kinds of fantastical races; there are always magical new things appearing too.
The current year is 1084 BE and the continent of Erothasia has been peaceful for many years. Yet, trouble is brewing. The Isles of Thay, a group of tropical islands, were recently discovered far off the eastern coast of the continent and arguments have begun about who exactly owns them. The enticement of unexplored land hasn’t just been attractive to kings and queens though; adventurers and merchants have travelled in boatloads to the new isles eager to discover something new and make a name for themselves. Who knows what they might uncover?
