Five hundred years ago the seemingly invincible Celaestian Empire was torn in two, not by war or politics but by a dragon. When Sunwaker, the last known dragon, a creature of immense size, appetites, and magical power, chose to claim the western half of the continent as its territory, razing the imperial capital to the ground and killing hundreds of thousands as it went, there was nothing anyone could do to stop it.
Since then the continent has been divided, with the remains of the empire to the east as the kingdom of Celaestus, and, stretching from the northern mountains down the great Southern River, all the way to the endless sea in the west, are the Dragonlands. Here the land is wild and rife with all manner of dangers and magics that have long since disappeared from more civilized parts of the world.
Most of the people that have survived in the Dragonlands eke out meager livings in tiny towns with very little structure or law while living in fear, not only of the dragon, but of bandits, dark wizards, and a plethora of beasts, both magical and mundane that have also made the Dragonlands their hunting grounds. It’s not a place where many people would care to go, only the daring and the desperate choose to venture out west, but there has never been a shortage of that sort of folk.
Whatever your reasons, you’re one of those daring or desperate folks who have decided to cross the Abysm, the great chasm and head into the Dragonlands. You’ve managed to find a place in one of the few wagon trains going west to take supplies to the few folks out there. You’ll face terrible dangers, but you also have the potential to uncover great secrets, harness uncanny powers, and discover priceless treasures if you can survive the wilds and keep the dragon’s attention off of you.
Notes: Looking for 3-5 players and if I get more than that I’ll choose the ones I think would work best. Feel free to play any fantasy species (human, elf, dwarf, etc.) although if you choose something really exotic I may need some extra info on it and may veto anything I feel would hinder things. Also feel free to adapt or create your own cards if you desire, but they will be subject to my approval.
