Welcome to Sekon.
This is the world the Breaker gods have made for us. The twin brothers of dusk and dawn who bestowed upon our people the power to build a society with more than just flesh and bone.
This is the world of change, where every decade we must face the Day of Dusk, the day when the marks upon our wrists vanish and our powers are removed. Where for just one day we are given to remember how we are without them.
Then to wake the next morning and find a new power bestowed. A new set of glyphs cast into our skin or, if we are old or sickly, or perhaps just born without the strength of others, we wake to find the Dawnbreaker. He is the one who appears to teach those with new powers, given them divine instruction, guiding hearts and minds with his form of living obsidian. He will also show himself if your final days stand close the day of change. He will appear in the darkened hours to tell us we will not live long enough to use his gifts and so you must return to death as you came into life, with no power or symbols.
To see a god is both a kindness and curse.
We now know much about the powers that have come before, because we have kept meticulous records of each and every one of them.
Every ten years, when the Day of Dawn arrives, a great pilgrimage is taken to the capital cities: Golba to the north, Reikana in the far south, Vremsire on the shores of the east, and Nath to the west. It is in these places that the markings are recorded, old powers are explained and new powers are tested.
Hundreds and thousands of people come to be recorded and to be enlightened, to praise the Dawnbreaker and to whisper stories of his brother who has only been rumored to show himself in dark places at dark times.
It is here that we begin. In the moment of calm, the moment of quiet, when old powers have vanished and new powers are about to be born.
Welcome… to the Day of Dusk!
