A ruin once hung, suspended, lazily sliding through the sky as the sun marched its tired path across the heavens. A ruin so strange, it may never have had a beginning; an eternal ending, held aloft by the audacity of its own cleverness. Always dying, never falling, the ruin one day met with a cruel fate, as gravity took its toll, long overdue.
A city drifts through the heavens, floating above an endless cloud-scape that stretches from horizon to horizon. Across it’s surface sprawls a vast and intricate City, housing a multitude of denizens in houses and tower above and hang below the island. Deep within the rocky crags and stony cliffs, a massive, glowing, semi-sentient stone gives power to the city and keeps it aloft. It glimmers, even now, though it is constricted by tendrils and vines. Tethered to the central island is a trio of smaller islands: One a vast sprawl of farmlands, dotted by ruins jutting out of the earth; one a crowded, walled off fort with barely a soul to be found inside; the third a tiny outcrop of smog-wreathed towers and thick fog. Passage here is forbidden to all, and even how it came to be is obscured.
After years of furious conquest and rapid technological advancement, the City is finally facing the backlash from its age of ambition. Isolationist policies have cut off the City from contact with other societies, culture is stagnating, new technologies are having unintended side-effects, and growing discontent among colonists threatens to break out into all out rebellion.
Among the strife and turmoil, a group of individuals seeks to either profit off of this chaos, or aspires to put an end to it. Though they may struggle mightily against it, they must remember that inevitably, the City in the Sky will fall.
Character Creation: Natures are provided, but I am very open to creative alternatives. Strengths and weaknesses are also suggestions, and I encourage you to create your own. Artwork for these cards is optional, but I would like to require a picture for your character.
