Borrasca is well known, but a small settlement, perhaps the last one you come to before you reach the Red Hills, just fifty kilometers from the edge of the stormlands on the Southern Reach. It’s a place where prospectors once stopped for supplies and to make last-minute repairs before heading out into the dust. But all that’s changed.
Three days ago, Borrasca lost touch with the other cities. Investigators from Ingersoll and the Union provisional government found it wiped out. Only one survivor, madame of the local cathouse. But the government and company investigators are at loggerheads, constantly impeding each other’s investigations. They needed to turn to an independent party. That’s you.
Your job. Find out what happened in Borrasca. Come to an agreement and submit your report. But is it that easy? Doesn’t everybody come with their own concept of what happened? How relevant is the truth to you? Sifting through the evidence is going to be incredibly complex.
Surely a storm is coming, the front is in sight. Where will you be when it passes?
