Welcome to Project Andromeda
In the early 25th Century the Iconian War devastated the Galaxy leaving the Federation and Delta Alliances to pick up the pieces. In the following years as the great powers recovered a few Starfleet scientists and Admirals seeing the devastation on the galaxy proposed a multi-species initiative, an expedition outside the Galaxy.
Over the decade of preparing a fleet was put together. One hundred twenty three ark ships and thirty eight starfleet ships, along with a few dozen ships from the various powers that joined in this expedition outfitted with Transwarp drives and equipped with the necessary modifications for such a long journey. Even with transwarp the fleet would take a century to reach Andromeda with little chance of return or backup.
For some Andromeda is a bold new frontier of mystery. To others a haven from the scourges of the galaxy the Borg and Undine that have destroyed civilizations. Still to others Andromeda represents opportunity and new life.
You are the crew of the USS Pegasus, a Pathfinder class starship tasked with exploring the new frontier, making first contact, and finding a new world for colonization. Your mission begins as you awaken from cryosleep.
