The star system Theus: brimming with space stations, colonized asteroid towns, derelict ships, and abandoned alien artifacts. Several inhabited planets host ambitious civilizations and competing nations. Great vessels brave the expanse between civilized havens, unfurling their huge quantum sails to catch currents of exotic energies amidst hyperspace lanes created by aliens long departed. Pirate vessels prowl these lanes, preying on merchant ships and raiding undefended space ports and colonies. Swashbuckling heroes defend the weak with plasma pistols and high-tech swords. Brave explorers uncover the secrets of ancient alien technologies, and the potential riches represented by a newly accessible gas giant and it’s moons, the New World.

You are a crew member of the pirate ship Void Raven. This ship is a charter member of the Brotherhood of the Belt, a loose confederation of democratically elected captains and crews of pirate vessels. You are an outcast of Thean society, finding a place to belong among your brothers and sisters of the crew, and possibly a place to get very rich. If you survive long enough.
The Void Raven’s most recent voyage could have gone better. They did “liberate” some cargo and valuables from a Castillian envoy ship they encountered in the Trade Sea hyperspace loop, but were soon after set upon by two galleons of the Castillian Navy, flying colors of the Vatecine Church. The Void Raven managed to escape, but not without taking a few devastating shots that cost the lives of many crew.
Captain Preston has ordered the Raven to dock in the Pirate friendly asteroid town of Rockhaven, to repair the damages, sell what goods they can, take on supplies and new crew.
