The Council of Races is no more and Lord Nikolas rules the north with an iron fist.
Suspicion and paranoia is rife on the streets. Whole families will sometimes just vanish for no reason and black clad enforcers roam the streets keeping everyone in their place.
Non-humans are not welcome in SilverBay City, though a rare few are tolerated. The dwarves have been driven back their mountain strongholds after a brief but brutal war. The elves have fled to their woods and islands. The gnomes are no more, either fled or exterminated. The Halfling river folk still trade at the docks, but rarely enter the city proper.
The great temples of Silverbay have been torn down, only the worship of the sign of the Griffin is allowed. The truly devout have scattered to isolated temples far from the city.
