Used to be one main rock we all came from – now there’s more planets out there than you can chart in a single nav-com. Everyone’s got a two-seater rocketcraft, and everyone’s got tons of stuff they’ll pay the next person who walks in to get done for ‘em. These, are called Bounties.
WELCOME TO THE BOUNTY NETWORK…
..salutes the message that pops up as you approach the next cosmic station. Your boosters are at full and you’re ready for the shiny stack of silver that comes with completing a new quest. Or maybe you just got back from some crusade and now you’re ready to blow it all on the promenade tables. Or hell, maybe you’re just here to explore. Never been to this side of the galaxy and wanna find some cool swag. Whatever’s your prerogative, you’ll find something for it here, or at least a map to the planet where you can find it. The cosmos is a big place, full of crazier things than you can wrap your brain around.
This will be a Rotating Narrators story in which YOU will play an spacial explorer and/or experienced bounty driver. Bounties can be anything from killing vicious beasts in an area to sneaking into a subspace lock-up to break out a prisoner or two. Each scene’s narrator will decide what bounties are available at that time and their bounties can take more than one scene if they wish. Bounties can also require either one person or more, whatever the narrator wants.
This story will basically be collections of many adventures, but we can host larger stories whenever the narrators (US) want. For example, maybe one player has a Bounty based in a war between two factions the next galaxy over – they could choose to have the war escalate and suck us all into it so it becomes a much larger story, but to start with, we’ll just go with what bounties we want to begin with.
Players can but do not have to start in/form groups. We’re just all buying bounties, but maybe we ended up on the same job or are competing for one. Relationships will grow and change for reasons like this. There will always be multiple Bounties going on and it’ll always be player’s choice whether to work together, separately, betray each other, whatever they want.
AS AN ADDED BONUS: Every time players complete a Bounty, they will be awarded the necessary funds for completing it as Assets, which they’ll be able to actually Spend at the Market for awesome stuff. We’ll do this by having a short Interlude scene every couple scenes where players will all be at the nearest space station and be able to spend Assets to get new Assets for their purchases, whether to help them in Bounties to come or just for aesthetics.
Natures are freeform, but gain inspiration for them from the Strength and other cards.
Characters in this story exist in a vast universe. It’s up to you whether they are more in the style of Borderlands, Destiny, Star Trek or other Sci-Fi tones.
