On hold for a couple of weeks until our next ‘meeting’
Do you want to play romance games on Storium, or at least games with the opportunity for romance in them? Do you want a particular type of scene, setting or pairing you’d like to roleplay and are looking for likeminded players?
Romantics Anonymous is a magical hub/waiting room/café game in which you can meet other characters, discuss games you’d like to play and go off and have your fun elsewhere, before coming back and telling everyone how awesome it was and hooking up with another game for more fun. As such, it will stay open for submissions for as long and as many players as possible, so no rush to get your applications in unless you really want to get started :)

This game will open with a meeting of the Romantics Anonymous support group - all you know is that you picked up a flyer/saw a tweet/got a Facebook invite/heard about it from a friend/found a message in a bottle on the beach/was left a mysterious magical summons, and though you may have assumptions or suspicions, you actually have no idea what to expect. Maybe when you get there you’ll find that other people are looking for the same thing as you? Maybe they’ll tempt you with something else?
Turn up in character or as yourself, but please try to stay in character with the game setting as much as you can. Please see the nature cards for more information, but if you want to be able to play multiple characters, don’t tie yourself down with cards - everything else (name/avatar/biog) is editable later on. If you retire a character, bear in mind that you will not be able to rejoin later on, but making a dramatic/temporary exit and editing your biog/avatar to indicate your character is inactive is fine, as is staying quiet for however long you want to - no expectations, no obligations.
Please only play one card per challenge. Maximum word counts are deliberately low to avoid massive expanses of internal monologue - please don’t double post just to get around this, but if you need to play on multiple challenges or reply to various conversations, that’s fine. Bear in mind that you will only be able to play three cards per scene, even though depending on active/inactive players there may be lots of challenges available.
For the time being, this hub game will be fully SFW, although you obviously have the option to go off and make your own stories with whatever boundaries you like. If we have any problems, I may make an NSFW spinoff.
I will require every player to explicitly state their personal game preferences and comfort levels either using sPrefs - http://sprefs.ssieth.co.uk (recommended, help will be available if you’re struggling with it) or in your character biog. Applications will be returned if this is not included. Please note, this game is designed to be welcoming and explicitly LGBT-friendly and I will not tolerate any homophobia, bigotry, general doucheyness or pedantry.
If demand is high/issues occur, I might clone this game and separate out into sub-genres. If this game gets busy, you may find it swamping your notifications feed - you might want to consider setting up email filters or switching to the daily digest version in your Storium preferences (ask if you don’t know how).
