“The spirits of history’s greatest swords have been gathered, now to find those who will wield them.”
In this game, five players will assume the role of five relatively ordinary people from our time and world who find themselves summoned by the wizard Merlin and tasked with preventing the theft of Excalibur, the most powerful weapon on Earth.
The only thing that makes these five strangers unique is their attachment to some object—a skateboard, a guitar, a field hockey stick, or something else you can swing around—into which Merlin will transfer the spirit of a legendary/historical sword. These spirits will transform the items into powerful weapons but also have wills of their own. In order to succeed, the characters will need to forge strong bonds with their counterparts (this also means that once players receive their spirit they will essentially be writing for two characters, as the spirits can communicate with their wielder).
*Notes:
-I am interested in players creating their own nature, strength, weakness, and subplot cards. I have, however, provided examples of the type of thing I am looking for. Of course, if you happen to like one of the examples, feel free to choose it.
-Please be sure to include what item your character has a special attachment to and why, either in their nature card or their character bio.
-The spirit each character receives will be decided in the first scene by the narrator and will depend on how the characters complete the challenges of that scene.
-This game is going to be slow and steady. My day job is writing too, so there may be days I am burnt out on writing. I also want everyone to have the time they need to produce their best prose.
