Quarantine A1 was the first of the American government’s attempts to contain the Sleeping Death, the future’s first great plague. Death occurred within days, quickly exhausting its carriers and spreading through the air. The Sleeping Death provoked drastic actions across the world. In America, massive, skyscraper-high walls were erected around cities, enclosing millions of people. Those who escaped were “cleaned” by the military, and those who stayed withered away and died. Quarantine A1 was the first of these cities.
The year is 2054, a decade after the last of the quarantines have been left as empty husks of cities. Rich, self-made men have laid claim to the first quarantine zone, realizing a utopia of riches and a personal paradise that they affectionately call “Skyfall”. Being cropped in by walls on every side, it only seemed natural to raze the city and then raise it back, building in the only direction left: up. Black spires dot the night sky, fueling an unending nightlife rife with all the conveniences and sins that the future has to offer. Catwalks and gerry-rigged huts cross across the skyline at the lowest levels; there’s no government zoning laws, estate guidelines, or construction rules to stop anyone from finding their fortune, and the higher up you go, the more fortune you need. At the lowest level is Floor Zero where it’s rumored that the Sleeping Plague still floats about the storefronts and on the detritus of an age destroyed.
Of course, with such flawed paradise comes its inherent flavors: a condemned, forgotten city with corrupt enforcers and bodyguards, the rich and powerful, the poor and the insane, the ambitious and dangerous, the scientific and the unconventional, and much, much more. Don’t trust anyone but yourself.
OOC: Hi! This is my first time narrating but this is a world I’ve had brewing in my mind for quite a while. It’s a dystopian cyberpunk-esque theme so if you have any ideas for custom cards that fit, feel free to try them out. You can expect androids, AI, bioengineering, spies, mercenary cells, political intrigue, heists, and more. I don’t have a firm story set in my head yet but I’ll conjure something based on the characters in play. I’m looking for about 3-5 players.
