50 Years ago the world was pleasantly shocked by the invention of psychometric abilities through retro-viral genetic manipulation.
50 Years ago there was a centralized government, and a person could travel from one side of a continent to the other without fear of being eaten alive.
Humans now live in small enclaves called Scrambler Nests. Sometimes collections of Nests form small cities, but the majority of the world is a terrifying uninhabitable nightmare for normal humans.
Those who possess any psychic ability are carefully monitored and forced to wear mental scrambler technology. Those who cannot be controlled are summarily kicked out of the Nest and left to fend for themselves.
Outside the cities Psychrosis thrives, multitudes of horrors which psychically feed off fear or pain, twist the mind and body - monstrous mutations of humans or animals - some say even the psychic remnants of those who have cheated death.
