In the epochs of space and time, were many civilizations, even by historical standards; within the confines of the celestial system known as Akath, there was a planet which held a civilization who’s people were unprecedented; they came to be from darkness and light, that had clashed together from eons of transcending perseverance, and the collective consciousness of all living things of the Universe; the collective conscious was called the Nexus Nirvana, and it bridged all times to another, moments of peace, moments of war, moments of strife, moments of serenity, moments of anxiety, moments of clarity, moments of turmoil and desolation, moments of relaxation and resolution, all things of any moment were bridged by it, in fact some had come to call the Nexus Nirvana the entity of time itself; however the Nexus Nirvana could not be time, as it was independent of time, as thoughts could happen in a flash; such instantaneous thoughts created the Bhleg Horses of the Nexus Nirvana, and from their wake were created the Mantis People.
The Mantis People were among few to have no mortal enemies, they tended to live in peace; yet something grew them closer to the Universe, a complete awareness of the Nexus Nirvana and the origins of its colors, as the emotions expressed appeared to them as colors. The Mantis People had come to call themselves the Psi. And with the coming of the great awakening, there came a great concept of the Psi, that they should heed the calls of the fellow life forms.
Schools developed, some that went beyond convention and taught of magic and creation with the Nexus Nirvana; libraries were erected to collect the various knowledge generated, and the foundation for the society came to fulfillment. A leader arose of great prowess, whom commissioned an army to be raised, one that could meet any need of the Universe in a light-year or less.
When the Grays had heard of their plan, they were more than willing to donate the technology for faster then light-speed travel; with such donation, the call of the army was made possible. The army became known as the Orans.
Warriors for the Orans were required to have Wings, similar in style to that of the praying mantis; they were expected to graduate a rigorous academy that taught psychic abilities. There was a family known as Warrior, that revered themselves for their magic, some taught in the schools, the majority of them belonged to a secret society known as the Guild.
The Guild had three basic ethics that all members were expected to live by. One was that all living beings were held sacred, no matter their origins, creation stories, strife or turmoil. Second, was that all distress of the universe was attributed to indifference of sentients and treatment of non-sentient as dictated by society. Third, that all actions be taken to avoid conflict when possible, and become a better being.
The third often contradicted by executive orders, and rarely seen.
This was the case for the 408. The 408 was an elite squad led by a member of the Guild, Psychedelic Warrior. Known for his prowess with his sword. All the 408 were armed with swords. And the ones that could afford it, had the ceremonial swords of peace, that allowed the user to smoke tobacco from its handle.
The Psi in general, could see in every color imaginable. However they favored the elusive shades of gray, that held many secrets within them.
Among the Orans, were the reds, for the warriors, blues for the medics, and orange for the spies. Yet to everyone else in the Universe, it was just another shade of gray. Pedestrians tended to wear yellow for the females, and ultraviolet for males. Their leader wore an infrared suit that read ‘leader’ upon it.
Executive orders super-ceded all codes of ethics within their society, as their leader known as the Supreme, did not belong to any secret society, and was a per-requisite for being the Supreme. It was said that a member of a secret society had other agenda that would conflict with the interests of the Universe.
The Constitution that was upheld, stated that the position of the Supreme would be recommended by the Council, and voted upon by democratic means, by all citizens above the age of thirty. And the powers included maintaining recommendations of the Prodo.
The details of the Nexus Nirvana were so in depth, that society had established two positions within the government to manage the collective consciousness. The secretary of intervention held position over the Interventus, that maintained a prolonged meditation feeling out all the aspects of the Nexus Nirvana to search for beings that met the following criteria. One were those that threatened the existence of life on sentient planets, or sought to usurp the enjoyment of life for others. The second were those that were in desperation and sufferance, that was becoming prolonged due to conditions on their territory or home planet. The third as respectively held for the finding of planets that had no sentient beings. However it was argued that due to the colors that trees gave off during storms, that the trees were in fact a sentient being. Needless to say there was a secret order that championed for the trees.
The second position in the government was the Secretary of Records, whom oversaw the Prodo. The Prodo held responsibility of recording all prayers sent to any god, and deliver them to the appropriate recipient by use of magic. The Prodo became infamous as the interstellar mail delivery system. As they would allow the citizens and army (though with some moderation in restriction to regards of content for the military), to send letters to another at any distance in matters of seconds. This also proved a cost effective method for the Psi, and allowed them to focus spending of resources on other more necessary projects.
When the population had turned their planet into a giant city, that was essentially one city, the Psi commissioned a generator and terraformed to ensure that struggling tree populations would not be devastated by the pollutions being produced. Often times the secret order of the Arboreal would be seen protesting the entire civilization, claiming they had become vile and ill intended upon sentients of their planet. To which the majority of their food were considered sentient by them. Lettuce, tomatoes, and even lemons. Science had suggested that the colors seen coming off the trees during storms was just an iteration of lightning mixing with the hues of the leaves and bark. To which was argued that the colors were coming from the roots, believed to be the brains of the trees.
Nevertheless, incidents occurred, and members of the Arboreal were hurt. The Supreme outlawed all forms of protests, and suggested that grievances be brought up at Council meetings which were held annually. The majority of those grievances were from the mistreatment of the trees.
Lack of prosperity among the Psi became common, and many worried that their magic would fade should the Universe ever experience a mass genocide, or if an ever fearful black whole swallowed a portion of the sentients.
