For most, dying for their country makes them a hero. You do it every day, but you certainly don’t feel like one…
You have been recruited to be a member of a special program at the National Security Agency. You were chosen from around the federal government due to your skills, proven performance, and the fact that you had a near death experience.
Now you die for a living.
You are placed in a near-death state using cryogenics and drugs, freeing your spirit to enter the land of the dead and gain access to secrets beyond the reach of traditional intelligence capabilities.
Now you straddle the line between worlds and try to maintain a semblance of a life even as the land of the dead bleeds into it. How long will you be able to hold on before you’ve gone too far?
Other Side Denzien (OSD): Any entity inhabiting the Other Side, temporarily or permanently.
Quasi-Dead Entity (QDE): Any OSD who is still alive. aka “Spirit”
Fully Aware Dead (FAD): Any deceased OSD who still maintains full, or almost full, control of their human faculties. aka “Ghost”
Non-Aware Dead (NAD): Any deceased OSD who has lost control of their human faculties. NADs tend to behaves in a very animalistic manner, but not always. Normally NADs have lost the ability to hide their stains, and may no longer appear human. aka “Wraith”
Non-Human Entity (NHE): Any OSD who was never human. NHE’s have no standard appearance, and operate using a completely alien intelligence. They are extremely dangerous. Use extreme caution. aka “Spectre”
Stain: An ectoplasmic deformity resulting from poor control of one’s negative emotions and desires. These can normally be hidden unless under great duress or with the loss of one’s faculties.
Phenomenon: Any ability used by OSDs that has no equivalent in the physical world.
Manifestation: Any interaction between the Other Side and the Living World. Without using Phenomenon, OSDs can normally only weakly interact with the world, mustering no more then a whispy vision, faint sound, or enough force to push an elevator button.
