In 2004, the world changed. The storybook horrors returned: Parts of Europe and Eurasia quickly fell to the combined might of Vampires, Werewolves, and other legendary things. In 2005, the War on Terror took new meaning as coalition forces - now backed with UN supplies - started to push back. In 2008, after three years of war, the so called ‘Old World’ sued for peace and membership into the UN. Since that time, an uneasy stalemate and mutual non-interference MOU has existed between the world of humans and the nation states of monsters.
While the forces of humanity may no longer officially interfere with Old World nations, a team of specialists and operators have been privately funded to clandestinely intercede on humanity’s behalf. Plato’s Cave Search and Rescue has been operating for 4 years, and is recruiting its latest squad.
