It’s the late 90’s. It’s always night, and it’s usually raining, but it’s not like anyone notices. Because in New Gothic, the city that never wakes up, the unsuspecting public would rather not know about the surreal and monstrous secrets in the shadows.
You are one of those monstrous fears. You’re probably sexy, most likely brooding, definitely powerful, and I’d wager tormented in some tragic but intriguing way. You own the night. Or at least, you mortgage it and pay association fees. And someone else is always trying to collect.
The real existential dilemma you face is, do you have what it takes to survive this grim reality? Can you fight the struggle to keep New Gothic from being controlled by those powers that would rather suck it dry, leaving a husk of concrete bones? Can you control it for yourself, and let your benevolence (or malevolence) keep the sheeple from learning the truth of your dark existence?
Only you can decide. Well, and all the other terrible horrors out to do the same thing. Watch out for those guys.
Welcome to the Huntening. I mean, the Huntering.
-The Game-Hey! As you can tell, this is a little tongue-in-cheek take on the dark and brooding World of Darkness, Blade meets Underworld gritty 90’s-00’s urban action fantasy noir pulp. The goal is to have fun, invoke as many tropes as possible, and maybe tell a compelling and crazy story along the way.
I am a GM/Storyteller who doesn’t just root for the players, I fall in LOVE with them. I want you to be fantastic. So as an aspect of this game, I will GLADLY reward players who do awesome, funny or bad-ass things by giving you cards when you do your best.
Lore and legend around vampires, werewolves and other dark creatures of the night are pretty well known in pop culture by now, you can pick and choose how you want to represent that. Just don’t try to tell other players they’re doing it wrong - leave that to me, or in a sidebar discussion. I usually don’t veto actions unless they take away from the fun, or are causing actual confusion.
You don’t have to have your clown shoes on, just don’t have your tie on too tight. If you want to be dark and sexy, do it. If you want to be guns-a-blazin’, go for it. But if your dialog is corny, your kung fu is wired up, and your occult soulblade is yearning for blood, time to put on some techno and jump a few rooftops. Am I rite?
MOST IMPORTANTLY!!The story has no end, only players that will come and go. I’ll take as many applicants as I can, but when some folks drop out, I’ll just invite more. If it gets to be too much fun for one thread, I’ll start a splinter game. Let’s really show what Storium is for, okay? Build our own lore, have some melodrama, and show that Showtime and AMC don’t have the market cornered on pulp serial horror soaps.
That’s all. Let’s brood, creeps.
