It’s a 23rd century world. Universe, really- give or take.
Earth is at the center of a growing web of human-occupied worlds. Dozens of worlds. Some, like stillborn Mars, serve as little more than mining colonies or military redoubts. Some, like bountiful Ganymede, as the breadbaskets of humanity. All owe their loyalty to Earth and their currency to the great trading companies. Few believe either debt is paid in full.
Fed by Earth’s hunger for resources and the isolation of its colonies, the trading companies have grown rich and powerful, eventually displacing governments across the galaxy as the true rulers of humanity. Their reign, never a beneficent one, has created a desperate, violent, and stratified species. The wretchedly poor have become a near-permanent underclass while the fantastically wealthy build private armies for protection and reprisal.
Into this world the players emerge. They are soldiers and scientists, explorers and extremists, princes and prostitutes. They live on the knife’s edge, risking all with every action in a violent world carved moment by moment from the black.
