Whenever a new lush, tropical island is discovered, the first people to get their hands on it are the elites of society. Lemon-peel Isle was no different.
Now, one could argue that the first to get their hands on any piece of land would technically be the indigenous people already living there, but— oh, so conveniently— the indigenous people of Lemon-peel Isle seemed to have already departed, leaving a veritable paradise in the hands of the world’s betters.
While the name— “Lemon-peel”, ugh— could use a fresh coat of paint, it wasn’t enough to deter a very specific clientele. The island itself was gorgeous, with clear blue water, white sand beaches, and lush greenery that looked like it had been painstakingly-cultivated. Well, it would look even better once it was outfitted with a luxury resort, filled to the brim with every amenity imaginable and then some.
It was amazing what problems could be solved when you threw money at them, and, in almost record time, the bourgeoisie of the world were ready and clamoring to be the first to make some such “discovery” on this island tailor made for them. It was one thing to play golf in gentle, sloping valley that no one had ever laid eyes on, but it was another to have your name attached to the island when it was officially disclosed to public after the elites had gotten their fill. If they planned to do that.
Demand is high and supply is low, but soon the first expedition by luxury cruise departs for Lemon-peel Isle. The trip is relatively uneventful— you can only experience so many mind numbing-pleasures before they lose their kick— save for the final night.
On that final night, there was a bump or a thud or something— but the boat jumped and the crew and passengers along with it.
Nothing more than that though. The next morning the sun rose like normal, and when the passengers came up to the deck they were just in time to see the sunlight gently-brushing the peaks and valleys of Lemon-peel Isle.
There was a distinct lack of man-made facilities, but the captain confirms with a shaking voice that it is, in fact, Lemon-peel Isle.
