Victorian London has a pest problem: strange, monstrous vermin are scurrying up from the sewers under the city, spreading pestilence and panic in equal measure. Nightmarish in form and seemingly magical in nature, these foul creatures have been growing bolder in their incursions into the civilized surface world. Something must be done to curb the infestation, so Parliament has authorized the Metropolitan Board of Works to form a standing paramilitary force to exterminate the beasts wherever they are found. These Licensed Anomaly Management Professionals, commonly known as “LAMPs”, are drawn from a variety of martial, magical, and ecclesiastical disciplines to venture down into the dark places under the city and burn nests of unholy things wherever they are found.
Thus far, it’s been going very badly.
