“This is York Road.”
There’s nothing unusual about the message; the recorded voice sounds exactly as it should. The train doors snap open on cue. But there’s something wrong. Very wrong.
This isn’t your stop. It isn’t anybody’s stop. York Road closed in 1932.
You shouldn’t be here. No one should be here. And yet, late on a cold November night, an Eastbound Piccadilly Line train stops—and doesn’t move on again.
You’re stranded in a station that closed 86 years ago.
The London Underground is an in-between place, where the usual rules seem not to apply. There is no world outside, only the dark of the tunnels and the bright oases of the stations. Beneath the streets of London spreads a galaxy of live and abandoned stars, accessible by everyone, but only seen by those who choose to look.
York Road was a brief flash on a much-frequented route, known only to urban explorers and Underground enthusiasts. Until one night it became more than that.
Until you came, and touched a world you were never meant to see.
Even if you manage to escape it, that world will stay within you. Who knows what the consequences of that might be—or how long they might take to be revealed?
