Hieropolis is about regular people and their encounters with the supernatural. In the course of the story characters may become supernatural themselves.
It’s the world we know except everything’s a little dirtier, a little darker, a little more crappy. More crime, more divorce, more self-deception. And beneath it all, behind everything, something hidden and sinister lurks.
The city of Brookhaven is typical example, a once-flourishing city slowly decaying since the fall of the railways but clinging to a veneer of prosperity. Downtown is full of towering skyscrapers, the old train yards are a blight of rust, the docks are full of questionable activity, and strange things happen on the Marduke University campus late at night.
