Hundreds of thousands of intelligent races inhabit the Milky Way, but the most advanced few thousand leave most of the rest alone. The Galactic Protection League keeps the Milky Way safe from threats from both inside and outside the galaxy, without the knowledge of most of the intelligent civilizations throughout the galaxy.
One of these clueless situations is a planet of little value, in one of the outer spiral arms of the galaxy called Earth.
Unfortunately, there are minor first contacts here and there whether the GPL wants it or not, and although Earth is of little worth, there have been many attacks on the academy on the planet’s large moon.
Many children of GPL officers, through attacks, bad piloting, or questionable actions of less-than-law-abiding members of the GPL have gotten stranded on this isolated planet and have grown up among these backwards sapient creatures called humans.
But some of these children of GPL members, having grown up among humans, are about to be discovered by the GPL, and just in time as a new enemy threatens the entire Milky Way galaxy.
Can these rustics from the Podunk planet do anything to stave off the threat with their unique insights?
This story is meant to be a nod to some really nice old Golden Age of Sci-fi stories. Characters are to play aliens that grew up in human families or institutions who suddenly find out about the GPL and join the big fight from their position on the equivalent of basically a “redneck planet.” That normally isn’t part of the GPL.
